The gentlest way to dry objects.
Our system is unique.
Our drying method is different from the conventional systems found in the food, chemical or pharmaceutical industries. Our own in-house system (software and hardware) was created by drawing on tried-and-trusted restoration principles and many years of experience. We call it dynamic vacuum freeze-drying.
Dynamic vacuum freeze-drying.
At docusave, we further developed our dynamic vacuum freeze-drying technique specifically for drying wet and damp paper, leather, parchment and other sensitive materials. The method yields high-quality results: it guarantees the efficient drying of frozen objects and is extremely gentle. During the drying process, the parameters of the software program are continuously monitored and adapted to the type of damage and the specific materials involved. Further damage such as mould growth, sticking, corrosion in metal parts, or deformation – a common problem in conventional drying methods – is avoided. The final result is largely dependent on how the object was recovered, packaged and frozen, but also on its condition before drying.
Positive side effects.
Vacuum freeze-drying dries up the hyphae/mycelia tubes of mould, but it doesn’t destroy its DNA. As such, the method can’t replace decontamination. As a positive side effect, however, insects and other pests that harm materials and cause soiling don’t survive the vacuum freeze-drying process.
Other advantages.
If necessary, our units can be transported and sealed. This is a good option when confidential documents must be dried under strict supervision. The surfaces can be adjusted, meaning large objects can also be dried. (Maximum surface area: 120 x 80 cm, 160 x 135 cm, 95 x 160 cm.)
